This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the WayMaker Markets app and connected services. It applies to the mobile application and its connection to our hosted platform at waymakermarkets.com.

By using the App, you acknowledge this Policy. If you use the App for an organization, ensure your use complies with your internal policies and applicable law.

2.1 Account and profile

• Username, name, email (where provided), language preference, profile photo (if uploaded)
• Authentication tokens and session identifiers stored securely on your device
• Optional biometric unlock preference (handled by your device OS; we do not store your fingerprint)

2.2 Business and operational data

Data you or your organization enter or generate in the Service, for example:

• Company profile, stores, products, inventory, sales, purchases, returns, write-offs
• Customer and supplier records, balances, and transaction history
• Accounting entries, journals, cash transactions, payment methods
• Printer configurations, sales settings, support tickets, and audit-related metadata

This data is processed to provide features you request and is typically controlled by your organization as the business user.

2.3 Device and technical data

• Device type, operating system, app version
• IP address and request timestamps when communicating with our servers
• Crash or error information if diagnostics are enabled
• Locale and theme preferences stored locally

2.4 Communications

• Support messages (email, in-app chat, WhatsApp if you initiate contact)
• Password reset codes sent to your registered email when you use forgot-password flows

3. How we use information

We use information to:

• Authenticate you and maintain your session
• Operate, secure, and improve the App and backend APIs
• Sync data between your device and your organization’s tenant on our servers
• Provide support and respond to inquiries
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
• Send service-related notices (e.g. security or account issues)

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your business ledger data for unrelated advertising.

4. Legal bases (where applicable)

Depending on your region, we rely on:

• Contract — to provide the Service you request
• Legitimate interests — security, fraud prevention, product improvement (balanced against your rights)
• Consent — where required (e.g. optional features)
• Legal obligation — tax, accounting, or regulatory requirements

5. Storage and security

• Data in transit is protected using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS).
• Sensitive credentials on device may use secure storage (e.g. encrypted keychain / Keystore).
• Server-side security includes access controls appropriate to a business SaaS environment.
• No method of transmission or storage is 100{}ecure; you should protect devices and passwords.

Data may be stored on servers in jurisdictions where our hosting providers operate. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards where required by law.

6. Retention

We retain information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal retention requirements.

Your organization may export or delete certain data through the platform subject to administrator permissions. Backup retention periods may apply on servers.

7. Sharing with others

We may share information with:

• Service providers — hosting, email delivery, support tools (under confidentiality obligations)
• Your organization — administrators and authorized users within your company tenant
• Authorities — when required by law or to protect rights and safety
• Business transfers — in connection with merger, acquisition, or asset sale (with notice where required)

Integrations you enable (e.g. opening WhatsApp or email) are governed by those providers’ policies.

8. Your rights

Depending on applicable law (e.g. GDPR, UK GDPR, or local data protection laws), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data; restrict or object to certain processing; data portability; withdraw consent; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

9. Children

The App is intended for business users and is not directed at children under 16 (or the age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect children’s personal data.

10. International transfers

If you are located outside the country where our servers are hosted, your information may be transferred internationally. We implement appropriate measures (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent) where required.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy. The “Last updated” date will change, and significant changes may be communicated in the App. Continued use after updates constitutes acknowledgment.
